There is much to be said for taking the time to learn something new every day. It not only broadens your mind but also enriches your world and that of those around you. It’s a win-win situation whichever way you look at it. The first few months of this quarter has taken this very concept to new heights. We’ve clocked an astonishing 2,440 hours of training with the number of trainees peaking at 708 team members over a total number of 28 workshops. “Malia Group offers rich ground for training because we’re such a diverse group of companies with needs that circle into each other, as well as diverge,” said Abbass Daher, Learning & Development Manager, Malia Trust. Topics ranged from Effective Communication Skills and Exceptional Customer Service to First Aid Training and a Heart Disease Awareness session to name just some highlights. “What also comes into play in reaching such great numbers is the enthusiasm Malians have for boosting their skills and absorbing new knowledge. It’s been an amazing few months and we have many more regular and off-the-beaten-path workshops on the way,” he added. As an internal learning center with facilities on company premises, Malia Academy provides team members with the opportunity to enrich their knowledge through job-related workshops, year-long certification programs, exchange of best-practices know-how between subsidiaries, and reading groups.
